Element One Hydrogen

Element One Hydrogen, a wholly owned subsidiary of Granite Creek Copper, is a clean energy company pioneering a tripartite approach combining the emerging field of geologic hydrogen exploration with critical minerals extraction and carbon sequestration. The company is focused on the identification and development of early-stage projects with significant potential to facilitate the long-term production of hydrogen, as well as related, in situ critical minerals, in a net negative carbon environment. By leveraging cutting-edge geological research and advanced exploration techniques, Element One targets areas rich in naturally occurring hydrogen accumulations, a critical and renewable energy resource poised to play a transformative role in the global energy transition. A primary feature of these hydrogen hosts is the coincident occurrence of metals identified as ‘critical minerals’ by both US and Canadian governments.

Element One’s prospect generator business model is centered around science, collaboration among disciplines and risk-sharing. The company identifies and acquires high-potential targets following desktop derisking involving extensive research and data review. Focused on-site exploration programs are initiated to further refine these high-quality hydrogen prospects, which are then developed further through strategic partnerships with joint venture (JV) partners. This approach allows Element One to diversify its portfolio, expand its reach, and accelerate project development timelines, all while mitigating financial exposure and capital expenditure.

Element One is collaborating with Cornell University, New England Research, and other leading institutions to advance the science and technology behind stimulated hydrogen production. This research is being funded through grants from the Department of Energy’s ARPA-E (Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy) program, which focuses on innovative energy technologies with high transformative potential.

Element One prioritizes natural hydrogen exploration while remaining open to leveraging stimulated production techniques in regions where geological conditions are favorable.
